The Nigerian Journal of Educational Administration and Planning (NJEAP) is published annually by the Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP). The association is the umbrella body of educational managers in the academics and the practioners in Nigeria. Three issues of the journal are published in April, August and December of each year in an attempt to address core issues that benefit not only the academic community but also humanity at large.
The main focus is to publish reliable and timely information emanating from original research, reviews and new perspectives in Educational Management and related fields. All submitted articles are peer reviewed anonymously by at least two independent reviewers, this is to ensure quality control and to operate in line with global best practice. Manuscripts to be submitted should be organized in simple, well-articulated and reader-friendly manner.
For more information on publication guidelines and requirements, please visit our manuscript submission portal.
All contributions submitted to NJEAP that are selected for peer review are sent to at least two, independent reviewers based on their areas of specialization, selected by the editors. Reviewers are independent and experienced researchers in the relevant research areas who are appointed to assess submitted manuscripts for originality, validity and significance. This helps editors to determine the suitability or otherwise of a manuscript for publishing in their journal.
The first process of review after the submission of a manuscript to NJEAP is the pre-assessment of the manuscript by the Editor to determine if the manuscript meets the criteria in the Call for Paper. If the manuscript meets the criteria set in the call for paper, then the editorial team will select potential peer reviewers within the field of research to review the manuscript and make specific recommendations on it to guide the editor in the final decision making.
The type of Peer Review adopted by NJEAP is Double-blind. The reviewers do not know the authors, and also, the authors do not know the reviewer of their manuscript. At least two (2) reviewers are appointed for each manuscript whose reports must be positive for the manuscript to be accepted for publication. In the event that the two (2) reports are negative, a third reviewer is appointed to either confirm or dismiss the unsuccessful report based on independent assessment of the manuscript.
The details of all the editorial and peer review process on submitted are kept confidential by the editors, authors and reviewers. Unless otherwise declared, the peer review process is confidential and conducted manuscripts anonymously; identities of reviewers are not released. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality of manuscripts. If a reviewer wishes to seek advice from colleagues while assessing a manuscript, the reviewer must consult with the editor and should ensure that confidentiality is maintained and that the names of any such colleagues are provided to the journal with the final report.
Regardless of whether a submitted manuscript is eventually published, correspondence with the journal, reviewers’ reports and other confidential material are not published, disclosed or otherwise publicized without prior written consent. Reviewers should be aware that it is our policy to keep their names confidential and that we do our utmost to ensure this confidentiality. We cannot, however, guarantee to maintain this confidentiality in the face of a successful legal action to disclose identity.
Reviewers are strongly advised to consider the following in the process of reviewing an article:
Title of the Paper: Is the title clearly described and appropriate for the content?NJEAP considers only original manuscript, i.e. articles that have not been previously published. Articles based on content previously made public only on a preprint server, institutional repository, or in a thesis will be considered. Manuscripts submitted must not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration and must be withdrawn before being submitted elsewhere. Authors whose articles are found to have been simultaneously submitted elsewhere may be sanction.
If authors have used their own previously published work, or work that is currently under review, as the basis for a submitted manuscript, they must cite the previous articles and indicate how the manuscript submitted differs from their previous work. Reuse of the authors’ own words should be attributed or quoted in the text. Reuse of the authors’ own figures or substantial amounts of wording may require permission from the copyright holder and the authors are responsible for obtaining this.
Redundant publication, the inappropriate division of study outcomes into more than one article (also known as salami slicing), may result in rejection or a request to merge submitted manuscripts, and the correction of published articles. Duplicate publication of the same, or a very similar, article may result in the retraction of the later article and the authors may incur sanctions.
Papers accepted and published become the copyright of the Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP). Once articles have been published in the Journal of Educational Administration and Planning (NJEAP) authors are free to use them elsewhere without permission from NAEAP or the publisher, provided that acknowledgement is given to NJEAP as the journal of original source of publication.
